Welcome to Sweet Carolina, a fully refurbished beautiful home with a contemporary-chic country feel. We were commissioned to give the interior of this Spanish home a complete overhaul, but with the restriction of not being able to move any of the walls. The original interior was dark and dated, and our challenge was to work within the existing spaces to transform it into a bright, contemporary property while retaining its Andalusian character.
We stripped the walls and ceilings, redesigned the kitchen and bathrooms, and set about repainting the wooden ceiling beams in a deep tone that sets them off against the white walls. Our studio designed the new kitchen as well, working hard to overcome the low ceiling and sense of clutter in this part of the home while producing a stylish, functional and contemporary workspace. We altered the flow of the room, chose bright modern materials and even managed to add a family breakfast corner.
You see, optimal use of space is also a vital component of good interior design, and for this you need to assess the ideal distribution and flow, which usually results in reconfiguring the area – as in this case, and with great effect. The stone slabs on the countertops, backsplash and bar were carefully chosen to emphasise the veining, and for contrast we added a daring touch with solid brass doors that add the kind of chic whimsy that gives a home character and joy.
All furnishings and lighting were designed specially for the home and fit it like a glove, giving each of its living spaces optimal functionality, style and comfort for the family to enjoy.
