The interior of this modern Andalusian beachside residence is designed to be a peaceful coastal retreat that employs a natural-toned colour palette. This is emphasised by cladding made from natural materials, which forms a solid yet organic backdrop for light, comfortable furnishings. Curved shapes continue the organic feel, accompanied by ethnic pieces, 70s inspired furniture and Art Deco touches that contrast and complement one another.
This layered, sensorially rich environment forms the core of our design concept, which was to create a sense of refined, comfortable elegance and style resonant of nature. The villa’s architecture is modern minimalist, and the textures and warm Mediterranean tones soften its right-angled lines while also drawing attention to them. As part of this, we enhanced the open-plan flow between lounge, dining and kitchen, using Tramoto granite, Terra Larix woods, smoked glass and brass detailing as a counterpoint to the modern styling.
The sensual curved forms of the furnishings also act as a feminine balance to the more masculine architecture, while occasionally enhancing the latter with oversized black and white photography, and a Caadre mirror by Philippe Starck. The master bedroom – that sanctuary of private repose – takes its conceptual inspiration from that mysterious sea mammal, the whale. We wanted this space to embrace feelings of tranquillity, romance and a safe, comfortable canvas for dreamy journeys.
A neutral colour palette playfully swims within a blend of contemporary and Art Deco details, where aged mirrors and soft concrete tones discreetly accompany the artwork that is a focal point in the room. We used a combination of frosted glass and black accents for contrast, while Tibetan lambs wool and soft leathers add that warm, cosseting touch you want in a bedroom. The various terraces similarly reflect different moods and possibilities, flanked by tall cypresses where large sunbeds offer luxuriant leisure by day and integrated fire heaters in the coffee table provide cosy warmth in the evenings – when the spectacular sunsets draw you outdoors to take it all in.
